The incubation project is focused on fostering a vibrant and sustainable technology ecosystem by helping startups execute a working business model and grow a sustainable business.

The program will offer a pre-incubation training program and a startup incubation program aimed at startup founders anywhere in the SouthWest region of Nigeria.

About the StartUp SouthWest Pre-incubation Program

The Pre-Incubation program is focused on providing training and support to startups with little or no background in technology in any of the South-Western states within 3 months.

The areas of support include data science, artificial intelligence, software development ethics, entrepreneurship training and ideation so as to allow innovators the opportunity to gain the skills required to build and develop the right technologies suitable for their businesses.

It is a six-month-long program that is designed to help startups properly structure their business, ensure consistent growth, redefine their product and strategy, and access funding to build an international scalable business.

The incubation program also provides an opportunity for innovative startup teams to groom their products to become fit for their respective market and also attract their prospective customers.

Startups that get accepted into the program would be provided with:

  • A befitting workspace.
  • Hands-on-support from Passion incubator team.
  • Access to experienced entrepreneurs/experts and mentorship.
  • Access to a network of corporate partners/products and investors.

Intending startups must have a team of up to 3 members (technical lead and founder(s)), gained traction, ages technology, and must have been generating revenue prior to application. Startups would also be chosen based on their scalability as well as commitment.

Also as part of its commitment to connecting ecosystem players (entrepreneurs, hubs, developer communities) across the region, the StartUp SouthWest team would be undertaking a South West innovation roadshow to drive collaboration and support their innovations.

Applications for the StartUp South West Pre-Incubation (Lagos, Ogun and Ondo cohorts) and incubation programs are currently open until August 30. Startups located in the SouthWest can click here now to get started.

StartUp SouthWest is one of 6 proposed similar regional hub projects (one per geopolitical zone) being supported by the Nigerian Growth and Employment project (GEM) in partnership with the World Bank and Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
