2018 has been a blast of a year for Nigerian tech startups; entrepreneurs have enjoyed an extensive range of pitch contests and funding rounds. With the number of events already held this year, it could be tempting to rule out more interesting rounds. Well, think again!
There are still a few interesting pitch contests on the cards for Nigerian startups from August till December. And here, we share 4 pitch contests that Nigerian startups can apply for in the last part of 2018.
2018 VC4A Venture Showcase – Series A
The VC4A is looking to have 8 startups pitch their ideas at the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit in November. The start-ups will get to pitch their ideas, products, and innovations to an audience of over 300 investors, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts. The contest is open for startups looking to raise between $250 and $5 million.

NES #24 Startups Pitch Contest
The NES #24 Startups Pitching Contest is open for application. Organised by the Lagos Angel Network (LAN) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), the pitch contest holds during the Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on October 21, 2018.

Once again, the contest will select 8 startups to pitch at the economic summit and answer questions from an array of investors and industry heavyweights.
The application portal was opened on August 1, and the deadline is August 31, 2018. After a vetting process, the finalists will be selected by October 5, while the event holds on October 21.
TechPoint Build West Africa
After expanding its media reach to other African countries, TechPoint has now widened its Pitch Storm contest. Previously restricted to Nigerian start-ups, the contest will now include start-ups from other West Africa countries.

Holding at the TechPoint Build event in January next year, Pitch Storm is a $10,000 startup contest. 12 startups will be selected to take part in the contest. And applications are opened to start-ups in areas such as Fintech and Payments; eCommerce; Agriculture; Education and Recruitment; Hardware; Cryptocurrency and Blockchain; Media & Entertainment; Health and Nutrition; and Logistics and Transportation.
Applications are currently open, and the deadline is October 31, 2018.
TechCrunch Disrupt Lagos
Now, of course, this is the interesting one. Applications are currently open for the first ever TechCrunch Startup Battlefield pitch contest in Nigeria. Organised by the hugely famous TechCrunch tech media platform, the Startup Battlefield is in its second year on the continent.

The winner of the contest gets $25,000 non-equity funding. Also, the winner gets an all-expense-paid trip to compete in the Startup Battlefield at TechCrunch’s world-famous Disrupt conference in 2019.
The pitch contest is presently open for application and closes on September 3, 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by October 19, 2018, while the main event holds on December 11, 2018.
