Welcome to the new month of September everyone! And what better way to start the month than meet with people of like minds. We at Technext have compiled a list of tech events coming up around you between September 2 – 7, 2019.

AI Expo Africa 2019

The largest business Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science Community event in Africa, AI Expo Africa 2019 wants to bring together experts to discuss and examine case studies and demonstrations.

The event will bring together CxOs, investors, buyers, suppliers, innovators, SMBs and global brands in the region focusing on real-world AI and Data Science business applications. It will consist of four tracks and eight workshops and will showcase about 17 AI startups.

Venue: Workshop 17, Watershed, Cape Town, South Africa.

Date: Wednesday 4 – Thursday 5, September, 2019.

World Economic Forum on Africa

The 28th World Economic Forum on Africa will be focused on how to scale up the transformation of regional architecture related to smart institutions, investment, integration, industry and innovation.

Themed: Shaping Inclusive Growth and Shared Futures in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the meeting will also address the African Union’s Agenda 2063 regional strategic priorities.

Venue: Cape Town, South Africa.

Date: Wednesday, 4 – Friday, 6, September, 2019.

The Design Open Day Experience

One of the skills that’s in high demand today is digital design. This is because with new companies springing up every day and analog companies seeking to go digital, there’s a need for digital designers to help facilitate this transition.

This event is a Design Open Day for Non-Designers to be introduced to the world of digital design, meet and learn from people who have successfully switched from different backgrounds to digital design. They also get a chance to learn how to turn these skills into money-making ventures.

Venue: The Nest Innovation Technology Park, Yaba, Lagos.

Date: Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Time: 9 am.

Legal Hackers will be launched in Lagos this week. A global movement of lawyers, policymakers, designers, and technologists, who explore and develop creative solutions to some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of law and technology.

They interact through meet-ups, hackathons, and workshops, spotting issues and proffering legal and technological solutions to them. This Lagos launch is themed “Where Law Meets Technology.”

Venue: 20 Felicia Koleoso Street, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Date: Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Time: 10 am.

Global Women Startup Weekend Port Harcourt

Startup Weekend helps to explore firsthand experience on what the startup ecosystem in Nigeria has to offer the global market.

This Startup Weekend would provide an avenue for women-led startups to share ideas, meet a team, and be mentored by the industry’s finest. It would also help participants find the right tools needed to design and build new products, services or businesses in the space of a single, fast-paced weekend.

Venue: Olotu Square Solutions, Port Harcourt, Rivers.

Date: Friday 6 – Sunday 8, September, 2019.

Time: 4pm on Friday.
