There are several interesting events lined up this week in the African tech scene. However, most of them will still hold virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have curated a list of some major virtual events. They come up between October 5-10, 2020.

L.A. Blockchain Summit

This week, Blockchain Venture Studio Draper Goren Holm will be hosting the seventh edition of its Blockchain Summit.

The premier blockchain technology and investment conference will feature some of the world’s foremost innovators, change-makers and prominent leaders in the blockchain ecosystem.

Building Innovative Ecosystem

On Wednesday, FundingBox, the European Commission, GIZ and DIHNET will be organising a webinar about cooperation to build a joint Africa-Europe Innovation System.

During the event, African experts and the European Union on Innovation Ecosystems will discuss potential collaborations and introduce the ecosystem to the new African European Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) initiative.

Other topics that will be discussed include, the new opportunities digital technologies offer to SMEs.

Rural electrification and women empowerment in Africa.

This event is organised by Power for All and Energypedia to discuss the opportunities for synergy between the goals of rural electrification, women empowerment, and agricultural transformation in Africa.

During the event, experts will highlight how the productive use of electricity (PUE) in mini-grids holds great promise to both agriculture development and the financial viability of mini-grids projects.

The event will host Mukabanji Mutanuka, Country manager, ENGIE Powercorner in Zambia, and Okenwa Anayo Nas, Founder/CEO, Nayo Tropical Technology Ltd, Nigeria among others.

Information Science and Technology

This week, the Association for Information Science and Technology will be organising a Webinar to discuss the evolution of information sceince in Africa.

Following the trends, researchers, educators, and professionals in the field of information science and technology will talk about the past, present, and future of information science on the continent.

The event will host Blessing Mawire, International Development Consultant, South Africa and Professor Kingo Mchombu of the International University of Management (IUM), Namibia among others.

Virtual Conference and College Fair 

This week, the Nigeria International Education Fair will be hosting a 3-day virtual education fair. The event will feature live-stream expert presentations for students and families and a concurrent virtual college fair with fully interactive.

This event is designed to help students and colleges connect safely during the COVID-19 crisis. Students will also have the opportunity to browse interactive college fair booths and chat live with admissions representatives.
