Hi everyone. It’s a new week and as usual it is loaded with several tech events you may not want to miss. We at Technext, have curated a list of upcoming events that you might want to be part of. This compilation includes tech events coming up between October 22nd and 27th, 2018.

NaijaHacks: Nigeria’s Official Hackathon

The Naijahacks Hackathon provides a platform for Nigerian innovators to use technology to create solutions for their communities. The event kicked off with an online hackathon event from October 18-23, 2018 and will be wrapping up with a Demo Day and Award ceremony this week.

NaijaHacks Hackathon promises lots of amazing prizes, networking opportunities, learning and fun. The event’s international team of Mentors, Speakers, and Judges come from the US, UK, Canada and Nigeria.

Venue: Zone Tech Park, Gbagada, Lagos.

Date: Wednesday, Oct 24th (Demo day) – Thursday, 25th (Awards Ceremony), 2018.

Time: 9 am.

BUCC Developers Meetup v1.2

The second edition of the BUCC Developers Meetup is happening this week. The meetup is a platform for tech enthusiasts, students and developers to expose themselves to the opportunities available and career path in the tech industry. This meetup is especially recommended for final year students and emerging student developers.

Topics to be treated at the event include: Open Sesame- revealing treasures of open source; Nigeria’s Tech Space- what’s in it for me?; The Journey- Being a student developer.

BUCC Developers Meetup looks to evolve into a developers hub which would become an oasis for developers in Ogun state and environs.

Venue: Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun.

Hacktoberfest UNN

Hacktoberfest is all about encouraging meaningful contributions to the open source ecosystem. Brought to you by DigitalOcean in partnership with GitHub and Twilio, Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software. You do not need to be a developer or expert coder to participate in the University of Nigeria (UNN) edition of this event.

SME Economy Conference and Awards 3.0

The 2018 SME Economy Conference is touted to be the biggest business/tech event. The conference is bringing together business owners, innovators, stakeholders, corporate Nigeria, the media, government, international community, idea hunters and investors to network and learn together.

The two days event would be featuring a conference, exhibition, product unveiling and tech sessions. Also to be featured are business pitching, networking, live market and an SME award ceremony. The award ceremony has about 20 categories to be competed for by innovative SMEs. (You can nominate a startup here)

AR/VR Meetup October 2018

This is a meetup organised by Imisi 3D for VR and AR enthusiasts and developers to meet each other, learn and have fun. With this concept, Imisi is aiming at building a community of extended reality content creators and innovators in Nigeria.
