Hi guys. Welcome to our weekly social media roundup where we bring you up to speed with the most trending stories in the world of social media. During the week, winner of the Big Brother Naija Season 4, Mercy Eke, announced the launch of her real estate business, Lambo Homes.

It was all fun and rosy on the timeline for her fans until it happened. A twitter user, @fkabudu retweeted tweet with a picture from a Netflix series, Ozark.

You might be wondering what’s special about that. So in Ozark, Marty and Wendy laundered money for a Mexican drug cartel using a legitimate business as front – a hotel and strip club. So, the picture to many denotes that Mercy is using the new real estate business as a front for some illegal business.

Although declared as a joke by the poster and later deleted, it didn’t stop the ‘mercenaries’ as they are fondly called, from descending on her.

Some even went ahead with death threats on her.

So with the whole backlash, can we say that the Mercynaries are merciless?

Buhari and the Never-Spoken Speech

So the 1st phase of the partial-lockdown ordered by the FG in states like Lagos, Ogun and Abuja elapsed on Monday. Following the report by the members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, it was reported that President Muhammadu Buhari will be addressing Nigerians on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Alas, it never came.

By noon on Monday, it was announced that the president will no longer be addressing Nigerians again. Trust Nigerians not to take such disrespect without a fight.

However, the partial lockdown has been extended for another 2 weeks in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja.

The Tife and Sansa Saga

One of Twitter’s favourite couples broke up this week. The two persons, Tife and Sansa were in a ‘jolly’ relationship, one that made Teeps exclaim ‘God when?’.

According to sides of the story, the couple broke up because of alleged infidelity from Sansa. However, following backlash on Twitter, Sansa cleared the air saying she was raped and abused in the relationship so she had to call it quits.

All hell immediately broke loose on Tife.

However, after Tife threatened to take the go legal in light of the allegations, the couple later came to the timeline to announce their resolution to make peace reign.
