Edupoint, SonoCare and 8 Others to Compete at MEST Africa Challenge Regional Finals
Startup incubator, Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) Africa, has revealed the regional finalists for its MEST Africa Challenge. The 10 finalists will get to pitch their products for a chance to be at the grand final that will hold in Kenya.
This is the second edition of the startup pitch competition. For this edition, 10 Nigerian startups would be competing at the Lagos-based regional final.
These startups include: Accommodation sourcing startup for students, myPadi.ng; On-demand mobile diagnostic imaging startup, Sonocare; Agritech startup building tools for agroprocessors, Crop2Cash; Agritech startup providing lands to farmers, Securefarmer; and Nigerian sports ecosystem, AMPZ tv.
Others include: The MUDiA Project, a social enterprise for youths; The Smarthub, a digital and automobile solution startup; Livekampus, a student accommodation solution; Edupoint Limited, an all-in-one solution for student development and educational management; and Schoolphix, a school management software.
All 10 startups will pitch at the MEST Incubator in Lagos on February 28. The winning startup will be guaranteed a place at the MEST Africa Summit in Cape Town and a chance to pitch and compete with winners of other regional events from some other African countries.
Regional contests will also hold in Nairobi, Kenya, Accra, Ghana, Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire and Cape Town, South Africa. 10 startups from those countries have also been selected for each of the regional events.
This year’s 50 regional finalists were selected from over 1000 applications from the participating countries.
The grand winner of the pitch competition could receive up to $50,000 in equity investment from MEST, a space in a MEST incubator as well as mentorship.
The finals of the challenge will be held at the 2019 MEST Africa Summit between 10 and 12 June in Nairobi, Kenya.
