Accounting Startup, Accounteer Wins Lagos Edition of MEST Africa Challenge

Online accounting startup, Accounteer has emerged winner of the Lagos edition of MEST Africa Challenge 2018. The event took place at MEST Africa’s Lagos incubator in Ikoyi and it saw Accounteer outwit 7 other startups to win the competition.

Accounteer is an online accounting startup that allows small business owners create invoices, track expenses, and follow up on their finances online without the fear of losing their records or the stress of spending so much time on manual processes for as low as N3,600 (10$) per month.

The MESTLagos competition was controlled by judges which includes; Ike Eze (Director eTranzact), Tunji Eleso (Managing Partner, Growth Capital by CCHub) and Daniel Isa (MEST Incubator Tech and Business Fellow).

Accounteer faced competition from seven other startups to emerge winner for the MESTLagos challenge. The other startups that took part in the competition includes: OsusuMobile – a fintech startup that provides microloans and microsavings to small-scale entrepreneurs through their mobile phones, OVG Media – a digital video platform that offers high-quality content produced for the Africa market.

Others include Nebula Pay A payments platform available on Skype and Facebook, OyaPay – allows users perform monetary transactions with QR codes, even without cash or a card in hand, PayPass – a universal ticket purchase platform, Jara – a platform that partners with retailers to reward users and shoppers with discounts, and Wallet – a software that lets you perform monetary transactions using your phone number.

As we had earlier reported, the win in Lagos guarantees the startup (Accounteer) a place at the MEST Africa Summit in Cape Town and a chance to pitch and compete with winners from some other African countries for $50,000 in equity investment from MEST.
