Three Major Things to Watch Out for at the CodeLagos Hackathon Demo Day Tomorrow

The first ever edition of the CodeLagos Hackathon would be wrapping up on November 1st in grand style.

    Hurray!!!

It's happening people, it's been 2years of CodeLagos and what better way to usher another year than to get the coders thinking out of the box with a Codelagos Hackathon.

There will be insightful learning sessions, side activities and lots more! #CodeLagos #Lagos 1/2 pic.twitter.com/nV8inc20dF

    — CodeLagos (@CodeLagos) October 19, 2018

The hackathon is organised by CodeLagos which is a 2016 initiative of the Lagos State Ministry of Education. It is aimed at teaching one million Lagos residents basic coding skills.

The month long programming competition which commenced on October 2 is designed to encourage Lagosians to solve everyday problems encountered in the metropolis using technology. It was made open to all computer programmers in the State.

The event is slated to be held at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos and here are 3 major things you should look forward to at the hackathon event.

    Innovative Solutions Demo

Of course tomorrow is Demo day, and as such contestants will be showcasing their solutions to the judges, tech community and the general public.

A total of 16 teams across two categories will be competing at the hackathon. Six of the teams are competing in the junior category (secondary school students between the ages of 14 and 17 years). The other ten will compete in the senior category (individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 years).

Each teams will have 10 minutes to pitch their innovative solutions to the attendees and judges. So get ready to have your mind blown with groundbreaking technological solutions to problems in different sectors ranging from health, transport and environment to energy, education, and finance.

    Amazing Rewards for Innovation

To reward their hardwork and help the top 3 innovative teams from both categories fine-tune their projects, the initiative would give amazing prizes to the winning teams.

For the Junior category, the winning team would receive Laptops and Certificates, while the 2nd and 3rd placed teams would get Tablets and Certificates.

At the grand finale, 10 teams of programmers will slog it out for the grand prize of 2 million naira.
