Fintech Company, Paga, Launches New Money Transfer app

Leading Nigerian mobile money company, Paga, has announced the launch of its new Money Transfer platform in Nigeria. The new solution was unveiled yesterday by the Company’s CEO, Tayo Oviosu, in a post on Medium.

According to Tayo, the Paga Money Transfer app has been designed with the aim to “simplify the process of sending money and ensure that money always gets to the recipient — no questions asked — always.” To achieve this end, the app has been designed to be devoid of a cluster of functions and perform just 2 basic functions “send and request money”.

How Does it Work?

To use the Paga Money Transfer App, you do not need to have the account number of the beneficiary. All you have to do is simply add a phone number or email address of the person you want to send money to. The recipient will get a message with the single step they need to take to collect the money.

And, you do not need to have money in your Paga wallet to use this service. You can link your debit cards or bank account directly and fund the transaction from your bank account. Just like the Remita app, this new app hopes to serve as one transaction point from any of your bank accounts for you.

Perhaps, a friend is in a dire situation, like not having sufficient funds, at a payment point. You can bail them out when they request cash from you. When they request, you will get a link to their JustPaga.me page where you can pay the bills with your Paga account, debit card, or direct bank debit.

Other features of the Paga App

The JustPaga.me link is also playing in the social commerce (payments on Instagram etc). “You now have your link to collect payments, and all your customer need is their phone number or email”, Tayo wrote.

There are so many other possible uses of the Justpaga.me pages — small online businesses, wedding aso ebi payments, residents association dues, donate to my school fees, etc. The service is not limited to the app – it is available on all platforms, including the online channel and USSD portal *242#. You can also withdraw, without a card, at any ATM of 13 banks with Paga.

You can download the new Paga Money Transfer app from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store
