Jumia and HP Announce N3.7m Scholarship as part of its School Resumption Campaign

As schools prepare to resume after a long holiday, Jumia is looking to reward some of its customers. Nigeria’s largest online shopping website has announced a new N3.7 million scholarship for Nigerian students.

Organised in collaboration with Hewlett Packard (HP), the scholarship is called Jumia’s School Resumption campaign. And the scholarship targets 15 Nigerian students between Basic 4 and the University level. Also, interested students under the age of 18 need to obtain letters of consent from their parents or legal guardians and mail it to Jumia ([email protected]).

To qualify for the scholarship, interested students need to purchase up to N10,500 worth of HP products from Jumia between August 13 and September 16, 2018. And it’s not just any HP product though. Interested students must purchase HP items listed on Jumia’s Back to school listing. This collection already houses reportedly 500,000 items with some having discounts up to 65%.

“Winners will be announced via Jumia’s Facebook live session and contacted ahead of school resumption,” said Olamide Amosu, Jumia’s Head of Engagement Marketing.

However, only 14 winners will be announced as winners. The last scholarship will be presented as a treasure hunt item during the campaign. Each winner gets a prize of N250,000 from Jumia and HP.

Aside from this, Jumia is running another competition on the side; an art contest. The contest is aimed at bringing out the artistic side in kids aged between 4 and 15. Kids are expected to recreate the logo of the online shopping website using a physical drawing book.

Ten of the logos will be shortlisted for final voting. Meanwhile, voting starts August 27th on social media using the #JumiaArtContest hashtag. The winning logo will be featured on the Jumia website for 24 hours while the winner gets N90,000 worth of items.
