Gamers Rake N1m at Maiden Edition of CyberGames Competition in Yaba

Media Vision, a Nigerian sports industry leader, has just concluded its first gaming competition known as CyberGames. CyberGames is an electronic sports event where participants compete in electronic games using the most popular console platforms in the world.

Held at the Nikoms Event Center in Yaba, the maiden edition of CyberGames was well attended. According to the host, over 128 gamers took part in the competition and N1m was up for grabs.

Two popular games took centre stage at the competition, as gamers slugged it out competing in FIFA and Mortal Combat.

In the tightly-contested gaming contest, Teluwo Adefolarin won the maiden edition of the CyberGames competition with the grand prize of N200,000. While the 1st runner-up, Ginchi, walked away with N150,000 in his pocket.

Not a bad day for gamers. Who says you can’t make money playing a video game?

More CyberGames Competitions in the Works

This is the first edition of the gaming competition and according to the host, Media Vision, more editions will hold each year. 8 regular editions are on the cards for 2018, and at the end of the year, an All-Star Event is billed to take place. Of course, the All Start Event would feature the top gamers from the 8 editions held this year.

Currently, there are only two types of games: football and Mortal Kombat. It should also be noted that registration fees apply and the cost varies based on the type of game. The registration fee for football is N3,000, while Mortal Kombat is free for now.
