The flagship brand of Global workspace provider, International Workplace Group (IWG) Plc, Regus, has unveiled its newest network of workspace centres in Gbagada, Lagos. The new space is Regus’s eighth centre launched in Nigeria so far.

According to the company, the new workspace is a part of its wider strategy to bring its workplace services closer to Nigerians and offer them an unparalleled choice of ambience, design and proximity that will enable them to meet their unique needs.

Mark Dixon, CEO & Founder of IWG, commented: “We are establishing a stronger and much-needed footprint in Lagos with this latest opening in Gbagada. As an important business hub, Lagos is a fantastic place for us to boost our expansion plans. The need for high-quality flexible workspaces continues to soar as hybrid working becomes the new normal.

“Our opening in Gbagada, Lagos comes at a time when more and more companies are discovering that flexible working boosts employee happiness and satisfaction while helping the environment. Our workplace model is also proven to increase productivity and allows for a business to scale up or down at significantly reduced costs.”

I chatted with Mr Ayo Akinmade, Executive Vice-Chairman for Regus Nigeria, at the unveiling of the new centre, located at The Zone in Gbagada, Lagos. According to him, the new centre has been located on the Lagos Mainland to create a dynamic and interactive environment for individuals and businesses in the heartland of Lagos to thrive.

“The object of this hub is to expand our scope of offering to Lagosians. Our goal is to enable 2.5 million Lagosians to be able to use our premises at any given point in time. This fits into our global strategy of bringing businesses to the people”, he said.

According to Akinmade, Regus is solving the challenge businesses face with rising real estate costs and straining access to funding. This creates a barrier for those seeking to obtain contracted office spaces for their teams’ use.

“Our network of workspaces enables businesses to operate anywhere, without the need for set-up costs or capital investment. It provides our customers with immediate cost benefits and the opportunity to fully outsource their office portfolio,” he adds.

On a brief tour of the new facility, I observed that the facility had a co-working space for individual users and a good number of workspace rooms for 2,3 individuals and more, with complimentary meeting rooms, relaxation lounges and kitchen services to enhance the users’ experience and satisfaction.

Regus locations and offerings

Regus is in 210 countries worldwide with more than 4000 office locations. Each location offers users first-class office space furnished with internet, furniture, electricity, and tea for a fixed fee.

In Nigeria, the company has centres in Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Ikeja, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. Each location is fully equipped with a round-the-clock electricity supply and WiFi connectivity for seamless work-related activities.

Regus offers several flexible solutions to users across the world. I was particularly interested in the membership offering that allows users to work from any Regus location worldwide. All they need to do is log in to the Regus app, which will automatically sign them into the space and provide wifi access without any human intervention.

This is especially attractive for Gen-Z professionals who have adopted global travelling as a lifestyle. Another exciting offering is the “virtual offices”, which allows business owners to create a credible presence from anywhere in the world by providing them with a physical address and an active telephone number.

According to Mr Akinmade, Regus has plans to open more workspace centres soon.

“We are looking at increasing our locations in Lagos from 8 to 16 in the next 18 to 24 months. We are constantly looking for partner landlords who we can work with to extend our network of centres”, he added.
