Do you know July is the most popular month for summer vacation travel? In a Ask Your Target Market survey, 59% of respondents said they have or will take a vacation this summer. 46% of those respondents said they would take their summer vacation during July, making it the most popular month for summer travel.
It’s the last week of July, and if you missed the most popular vacation travel window, you still have an opportunity to, because, according to the same survey, “36% plan to take vacations in August,” which means you still have ample time to plan that fun vacation and go unwind.
In this last week of July, we will be doing a review of the travel and vacation apps we have reviewed this month, from TripAdvisor to Kayak and TravelSpend, with the criteria for review being: app design, ease of use, the value offered and what we think.
|Tripadvisor||The Tripadvisor app is a beautifully designed app with colourfully designed graphics and high-quality pictures that draw you in. The user interface is impressive and comes with bright colours that typically give the vacation and fun holiday vibe.|
|Kayak app||The design of this app is basic, with predominantly white and orange colours. The pictures used to depict various cities are high quality and alluring. You want to book your flight and visit those cities just by looking at those pictures.|
|TravelSpend app||The TravelSpend app design is done in a general basic white colour mixed with other colours that spice the design up. The font is done basically in black and is a simple font.|
VERDICT: Tripadvisor take this home.
Ease of Use
|TravelSpend app||Regarding ease of use, the TravelSpend app is relatively easy to use as the icons on the app are very clearly spelt out and separated. by colour schemes, making it easy for the user to know what icon to tap on to perform various functions.|
|Kayak App||The offerings from the Kayak app are all on display on the landing page which makes the app super straightforward to use. The major icons are found on the app landing page and all users have to do is click on any of the four major icons to either book a flight, book a hotel room, rent a car or choose a fun holiday spot.|
|Tripadvisor||The Tripadvisor app may be well designed, but in the app design category, there is so much going on the landing page that it can get confusing to figure out, which makes it confusing and difficult to figure out and use.|
VERDICT: In this category, the Kayak app is the best as it is the easiest and most straightforward to figure out.
|Kayak app||The Kayak app offers users a platform to easily choose a fun vacation destination, book cheap flights, make hotel reservations and hire a car while on vacation.|
|TravelSpend app||While the TravelSpend app is relatively unpopular, users who have discovered and now use the app attest to the usefulness of the app in helping them prepare a budget and carefully document their spending while on vacation.|
|Tripadvisor app||This app promises to help users plan every aspect of their trip from planning the trip, to create a packing list and help them ensure they do not leave anything they would need on the vacation trip behind. |
The app offers value to its over 100 million users, many of whom attest to the app’s usefulness in planning a trip either as an individual or even for a group trip.
VERDICT: Our verdict is that all these apps offer different kinds of services and value in their own way.
These apps are value-packed, making the vacation experience of users easier, seamless and better planned.
