Fans and lovers of African culture and good music were wowed as they were thrown into a frenzy mood at the just concluded YouTube 2022 Africa Day Concert, hosted by Idris Elba in conjunction with YouTube.

The Africa Day Concert which featured top African Artistes like Davido, Busiswa, Ckay, D’banj, Yemi Alade, Reekado Banks and a few others, witnessed a renaissance of sounds and sent shivers to the spine of the audience who were thrilled to wonderful stage performances from their favorites artistes who took the stage.

The Africa Day Concert not only featured good music, but it was another opportunity to show the diversity and oneness in the Africa culture in terms of the apparels, styles, patterns in which the stage, bands, artistes, the audience enjoyed and synched in-between performances.

Former Mavin records artiste Reekado Banks were among the first performers. He came on stage with his hit single “Rora” and afterwards performed arguably one of his best singles in 2021 “Ozumba Mbadiwe” which sent the crowd wild.

The song which was released in 2021 was a representation of the events that took place in 2020, which saw Nigerians take to the streets to protest police brutality with hashtag #EndPoliceBrutaity, and later ended as one of the saddest moments in the nation’s history, with scores killed in the Lekki massacre.

Yemi Alade wasted no time in vibing with the crowd who were thrilled to dance in harmony to her ever energetic dance moves and songs, typical of an African woman that she is.

The “My Man” crooner recently became a Grammys award winner after featuring in Angelique Kidjo’s Album – Mother Nature, which won the best global album awards.

Mayorkun(Mayor of Lagos) blew the audience with his hit singles “up to something” and “Mama” when he came on stage. The DMW singer recently released his “Back in Office” album in 2021.

Fast-rising music art Ckay, whose hit single “Love Nwantiti” is currently the most-streamed song out of Africa, was brought on stage by Idris Elba himself who joined the concert virtually.

The “Emiliana” crooner, delivered a lightning performance that gave fans chills and goosebumps, having them sing along word-for-word his songs.

Busiswa was a sight to behold when she took the stage herself, retiring from the MC role alongside D’banj at one point of the concert. She gave off vibes off her singles.

She was later joined on stage by the kokomaster himself D’banj who performed the record-breaking single “Oliver Twist”. They both graced the stage with their dancing and moves to the exciting grins and noise of the audience who enjoyed every bit of their performance.

The kokomaster, D’banj came on stage and gave one of his most electrifying performances ever.

The Africa day concert also featured another of Africa’s fast-rising Artiste – Zuchu from Tanzania, who graced the stage performing her single “Don’t Deserve you”

Davido, the self-acclaimed 001, performed his latest hit songs as he hit the ground floor rolling in screams and loud dancing. Davido recently released “Stand Strong” featuring Sunday School Choir, one of the songs off his forthcoming new album,

The Nigerian artiste has become a household name with hits back to back, from Aye, FIA, Chioma, Risky, 1 Milli, and many more. Also, Davido became one of the few Nigerian artists to feature in the 2022 FIFA World Cup cover song.
