Social media roundup: #GOT prequel release date announced, #UCL last-minute drama + others

We may have spoken too soon when we said last week that it doesn’t seem like we can catch a break from the drama on the social media space. This week has been relatively quiet in the social space – not much happened that drew the usual attention.

Yet, we have some interesting items that drove conversations through the week:

The Real Madrid – Man City UCL match was a breath taker

Until the 89th minute, Manchester City were unpacking bottles to pop to celebrate their qualification for the final of the UEFA Champions League.

The leaders of the Premier League table were leading 1-0, until two goals came in two minutes, both by Rodrygo, a substitute, to put Real Madrid on the lifeline to come back.

It was like a dream but a bad dream for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Proposed Tariff increase

Nigerians are about to pay more for data, calls, and SMS, as network providers are asking the NCC to approve a tariff hike.

They argue that operational costs have increased, also asking the government to help with infrastructure to mitigate their current problems.

In reaction, Nigerians think this may not be the right time to further add to a burdensome economy.

Ekiti governor gaffes?

The Ekiti Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi Wednesday, said it is not the job of the Nigerian Government to address unemployment.

According to him, “It is not the job of the government to address unemployment.”

He said this while speaking during a Question and Answer session at an event organised for the declaration of his 2023 presidential ambition in Abuja on Wednesday.
