All you need to know about the ALAT Hackaholics

ALAT by Wema has announced its Hackathon programme tagged #Hackaholics 3.0 – Building the Future and is receiving hundreds of applications across the country. The competition is aimed at helping tech enthusiasts and innovators scale and gain entrance into the highly competitive market. 

The first application process opened on February 5, 2022, and the ensuing pitching round kicked off at the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure, in Ondo, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, and ended on February 17, 2022. 

There are two more pitches to be done, and Babcock University, Ogun, will host the next one. Applications for this began on March 19, 2022, and will end on March 31, 2022, so there is a lot to find out if you are considering pitching that great idea you have been developing.

  1. Eligibility criteria to participate in ALAT Hackaholics 3.0:

This program is open to all young Nigerians building a solution to some specific challenges across multiple sectors. The solution should focus on the limitless possibilities in the future of technology, like NFTs, Web 3.0, Metaverse, Blockchain, AR, VR, AI, IoT. 

To qualify, registration is done here. Interested and registered candidates will then be invited to a pitch centre to share their ideas. 

2. Programme structure:

Registered participants are screened through a set of questions that assess the strength of their ideas. From each of the three pitching centres, three winning ideas are selected. These winners will then compete at a grand finale to be held at another pitching centre.

3. Cash prizes:

The finals of Hachaholics 3.0 will be held in grand style later in the year, and after x regional pitches, it will be worth the wait.

The first, second and third place winners will walk home with ₦2.5 million, ₦1.5 million, and ₦1 million, respectively. 

4. Mentorship and training:

Winners will also be mentored by some of the best innovators in the Nigerian tech space.
