There is a Nigerian entertainers in tech trend – what are you waiting for?

In Nigeria, tech is gradually becoming the new oil. Thanks to the need to provide solutions to real life problems, and the move towards diversification – add digitalisation. You may imagine what life was fifteen years ago and wonder how you survived.

The Nigerian tech space has witnessed phenomenal growth in the last decade, and popular names have already opened their pegs to clip the rope. These entertainers are already investing in tech startups or hawking NFTs on the internet.

Below, we have curated a list of Nigerian entertainers who have thrown their hat in the tech ring.

Falz

Musician Falz moved into tech this year and immediately joined the big league, investing and becoming a board member of AltSchool Africa, a startup focusing on training software engineers.

Dr Sid

After many years as a musician, in 2019, Dr Sid announced that he was starting an e-sport and gaming company called Citizen Gaming. He said at the time that he had signed 30 gamers and is interested in creating opportunities for Nigerians to invest in the e-sport and gaming space.

Lynxxx

The rapper has made a shift into the NFT space, announcing last year that he had joined the Benin Bronze NFT Project that seeks to campaign for the return of the Benin Bronzes with NFTs.

Jackye Madu

The BBNaija alumni has positioned her feet firmly in the tech space as a software and products engineer. Already she has been making big moves starting the fintech company AzaPay and HotBox Technology LTD.

Ajebutter

The singer has joined the Ethereum/crypto bro gang, minting and selling NFTs on social media. He also announced that he had invested in AltSchool, a startup that focuses on training software engineers.

Mr Eazi

Mr Eazi has become a familiar name in the African tech space. The musician has been investing in the African tech space for years, long before he pursued music professionally, running a VC backed start-up in 2014. He also spoke about plans to start a functional digital Bank for Africans in the diaspora.

Buju

The Nigerian musician Buju has taken his first step into the Nigerian NFT space, announcing last month his plans to drop his own NFTs.

eLDee

eLDee lived his early life working as a software engineer for his father in the 90s. In a 2014 interview with TechCabal, he said that he developed the first CNN Radio website.

LeriQ

The sound engineer is known for his signature “LeriQ: Call the Paramedic” introduction to his work. But he updated his LinkedIn to show that he has been working as an app developer at Eureka Creations since 2019.

Pheelz Mr Producer
