Part of the frustrations that people have with podcasts is finding the right one for themselves. While podcast streaming platforms have made things easier by creating categories tailored to people’s interests. many still talk about not finding a podcast they find interesting in their category.
And when they do try to listen to podcasts, they find themselves listening to basic podcasts that they find boring. While if you’ve been in the game of listening to podcasts for a while, it’s easy to think your favourites are as popular as some of those Mummy GO videos.

Why: Why not? Rated four stars on Apple Podcast and notoriously causes storms now and again on Twitter due to the jocular approach by the host, I Said What I Said has been one of the longest-running Nigerian podcasts with thousands of downloads and streams.
Their guests have included everyone from Mama Burna to Falz to YouTuber Dimma Umeh. Plus, they have held the top spot on the Apple Podcast app for many months. They have their own studio, so you can rest assured the audio quality is top-notch.
2: Frankly Speaking
Host(s): Nedu (WAZOBIA FM), Naomi Crystal (ex-Cool FM), Adetoun and Husband Material
Duration: 45 mins
Why: Frankly Speaking, only launched late last year, and they have already amassed 42,000 plus subscribers on YouTube only. If you’re looking for a dose of frank conversations about what really happens and constitute a relationship, then this is for you.
3: Decode Fintech
Host: Khadija Abu
Duration: 40 mins
Why: Paystack’s product lead Khadija Abu seats down with industry leaders for a chat about working in tech in Nigeria. The likes Tayo Oviosu, founder and CEO of Paga and many others have been on the podcast.
If you’re looking for steaming conversations by industry leaders in the tech space, then this is your plug.
4 Smart Money Tribe
Host: Ugwu Arese

Why: Rated 4 stars on the Apple Podcast app, Smart Money Tribe is a podcast about managing finance and investment tailored for African millennials. It’s a spinoff of Ugwu’s best selling book The Smart Money Woman.
Ugwu seats down with leaders in the industry and discusses their bad and great investment choices without the scary jargon of the finance world.
5 Afritech Verified
Host: Tosin Omowole
Duration: 50 mins
Why: Tosin Omowole discusses the Nigerian tech industry with change-makers within the industry. The podcast offers a gateway into insider conversations about the Nigerian tech space. On the show have been founders of major tech companies in Nigeria, tech journalists and a lot more.

6 Tea With Tay

7 Off-air Gang

Why: Off-air gang was launched by popular demand in 2019 as a spinoff to The Hand Over show on the Beat FM. Already, it has been streamed on YouTube over 1.5 million times.
The guests have been a roll of celebrities from Don Jazzy to BBNaija contestant Mike Edward and their conversations range from being an exotic dancer in Lagos to the underbelly of the Nigerian music industry.
