Microblogging platform, Twitter, has announced a feature allowing users to share their tweets directly to Instagram Stories.
Twitter said in a tweet, “Please stop posting screenshots of Tweets on IG Stories. You can now share Tweets directly on iOS. – management.” Following the footsteps of previous updates like the Twitter Spaces, the latest feature is also available to just iOS users for now.
The tech company did not say when the feature will be available to Android users.
How it works
Sharing a tweet to IG Stories is as easy as sharing a link to Slack, Whatsapp, Gmail or any other supporting chat platforms. By clicking the share option for a tweet that has already been posted, the apps where it can be shared are listed in a section below the tweet.
If you use an iOS device, you should see the Instagram icon prominently displayed with Instagram Stories written beneath it. Select that option and the tweet will be on its way to be displayed nicely and easily on Instagram Stories.
Instagram does not allow clickable links on its platform except they are links in the account’s bio or the post is promoted. Similarly, the tweets that are shared with IG Stories are not clickable and can not take whoever sees them back to Twitter. In this way, tweeting directly to IG Stories is no different from taking screenshots of the tweet and uploading it to Stories.
Making content inter-sharable is one of the techniques big tech companies are leveraging to get more coverage for their content and users. Of the social media companies, TikTok still leads in making its short videos sharable on other platforms including Instagram Feed, IG Stories and YouTube.
