African Talent Outsourcing Startup, TalentQL Joins Techstars Accelerator to Drive Global Expansion
African talent recruitment and outsourcing startup, TalentQL has been accepted into the Techstars Toronto accelerator for the class of 2021.
TalentQL joins Nigerian bus-hailing platform, Plentywaka as two of the ten (10) startups selected in the latest batch for the US-based accelerator.
Following its entry into Techstars, the talent development startup will have access to $120,000 investment. Four months ago, TalentQL had raised $300,000 pre-seed to get going.
TalentQL CEO, Adewale Yusuf says the company will leverage the Techstars backing to fuel its expansion beyond a Pan-African platform to a global company.
We want a situation where when we’re recruiting from other countries, our technical recruiters are from those countries. We want them to be able to speak the language of these engineers and understand the culture of their countries.Adewale Yusuf, CEO TalentQL
An expansion into Kenya is in the works, according to the Yusuf. He says the startup is planning to open a Kenya office in the coming months. The CEO says the company is also seeking collaborations with some Fortune 500 companies to oversee talent placements for their African expansion.
Co-founded in November 2020 by Adewale Yusuf, Opeyemi Awoyemi and Akintunde Sultan, TalentQL is working to aggregate a quality talent base for African and international companies.
The startup operates a model whereby software developers are sourced in strategic areas close to top tertiary institutions. TalentQL has already established a campus in Ile-Ife, the home of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
TalentQL says it currently has over 100 tech experts and more than 2,000 developers catering to clients from the United States, Nigeria, Europe and Kenya.
With the COVID-19 pandemic driving the need for global companies to source talent worldwide, TalentQL seeks to democratize opportunities for Africa’s top tech talents.
