Anonymous, a popular decentralised international ‘hacktivist’ group, has hacked the official Twitter handle of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The hack follows the 72-hour ultimatum the group allegedly issued to Nigeria’s Federal Government to address the demands of the #EndSARS protesters.

Anon threatens to hack more accounts

Although the initial 72-hour ultimatum has not elapsed, Anon, via tweets has said it will reveal more government secrets and dirty files.

“We Anonymous are out to expose government’s secrets & dirtyfiles”

They have also called on Nigerians to suggest government websites they want to be hacked. Since the call has gone out, more than 800 Nigerians have sent in suggestions.

From calls to hack mobile operators like MTN and Globacom to schools and central bank, replies by Nigerians range from serious and important to funny and devious.

The general tone however is that many Nigerians are happy with the hack.

According to the timestamp of the first tweet, the hack happened about 9 hours ago and the account still remains in the possession of the Hacker group.

Anonymous increased support for the end sars protest comes at the heels of more support both locally and internationally.

The NBC is yet to issue an official response to this breach of its social communications outlet. The federal government also hasn’t reacted to threats to breach its websites.
