Child Rights in Digital Africa

On Tuesday the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, will be hosting a webinar on children’s rights in the digital age in Africa.

The event marks the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).

During the webinar, experts will discuss key issues in technology and children’s rights in Africa, focusing on privacy and data protection. They will also look at the opportunities and challenges regarding children’s rights in the digital age and the impact of COVID-19 on children’s digital rights.

Promoting Renewable Energy Tech in Africa

This week, a webinar on harnessing technology innovation and digitalization in the power system will be hosted by the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The webinar will aim to shape a socially inclusive energy transition towards the achievement of the sustainable development goals and Agenda 2063

During the event, international technical institutions, organizations, the private sector and civil society will come together to discuss the key role of energy transition plays in the post-pandemic period in Africa.

They will also discuss the crucial role of innovation and particularly digitisation of energy systems in the energy transition.

The event will host Mr Francisco Boshell, Analyst RE Technology Standards and Markets, IRENA, Mr Amine Idriss Adoum, Director of Programme Delivery and Regional Economic Integration, AUDA-NEPAD among others.

Electra Mining Africa 2020

This week, Electra Mining Africa will be holding week-long connect. On Monday, there will be a session on ventilation as a Key COVID-19 Barrier. The panel will be discussed looking at the Japanese study that shows COVID-19 spread was 18-fold higher in an enclosed environment than in an outdoor environment.
