Harnessing Mobile Phone Data for Covid-19 response

Starting this week, the United Nations Global Pulse will be hosting an online webinar to discuss harnessing of mobile phone data for Covid-19 response and recovery efforts in Africa.

During the webinar, facilitators from the private sector, academia, development, humanitarian partners and data experts in National Statistical Offices (NSOs) will be looking into the use of mobile data to inform the current COVID-19 pandemic with regards to immediate response, its socio-economic effects, and efforts to build back better.

In addition, the 10-session interactive webinar series will allow knowledge and experience exchange to feed into the current and future responses to pandemics. It will also encourage adoption and responsible use of mobile phone data for the acceleration of the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Benefits of Gaming

On Friday, Carry1st will be discussing the Benefits of Gaming on the specific topic of, Does gaming increase IQ?’ in another edition of GamesGamersGaming. The virtual tech event will bring together Game Creators, community leads and gamers to have fun while discussing developing the gaming industry in Africa.

During the IG live session, the guest speaker Tomi Walker will be discussing his journey to gaming while focusing on the actual Benefits of Gaming. He will also answer the question of whether gaming increases IQ.

Man Meets Machine Webinar

On Wednesday, Mining Review Africa will be hosting a webinar on how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance human experience to make process plants more efficient.

During the session, experts will discuss the opportunities available to further develop intelligent technologies and make the mining sector more efficient and sustainable.

Other key discussion points include the rationale and value of developing integrated technologies for mineral process applications, benefits of intelligent technologies to the minerals processing customer, the role of the human versus the role of the intelligent machine among others.

This event was organised by Youth Day of Service (YDOS) to steer interest of coding and programming in teens and youths between the ages of 13 and 19.
