Hi guys, trust you had a great weekend. This week, events across the tech space will still hold virtually with the COVID-19 pandemic still spreading globally.

We have curated a list of some of the major virtual events you could attend. These events come up between June 22 – 27, 2020.

Forbes Nigerian Summit

Entrepreneurs, investor and influencers will come together to attend the first-ever Forbes’ Nigerian Summit. The event will feature a demo day for the first Nigeria Accelerator Program for entrepreneurs and startups.

The new initiative was sponsored by Forbes Magazine in partnership with the Global Startup Ecosystem as well as local partners. The event aims to support business resilience in Africa during this Covid-19 pandemic.

The Forbes Nigeria Summit will feature more than 25 iconic speakers/mentors, 100 global partners, and over 1,000 digital entrepreneurs and influencers from across Nigeria.

Microsoft Digital Government Webinar

The event is organised by Microsoft to enlighten governments on how to connect smoothly with their community and collaborate across agencies. The webinar will also reveal how governments can better partner with the private sector.

Some of the issues that will be discussed include what is needed to enable and promote an inclusive economic recovery by using technology to help governments, enterprises, and small businesses sustain operations and deliver services

The webinar will host Mazen Fayad, Government Industry Lead, Microsoft Middle East & Africa, Tom Isherwood, Partner McKinsey & Company among others.

E-learning on WhatsApp Webinar

This webinar is a collaboration between a civic technology organization, Grassroots, and MIT and aims to discuss WhatsApp as an e-learning platform.

It will also look at the possibility of reimagining social media platforms as a new avenue for advancing civic pedagogy and networking for long-term social movement building.

The discussion will host Luke Jordan who is the Founder and Executive Director at Grassroot and Alisa Zomer who is the Assistant Director at the MIT Governance Lab among others.

Digitalization to transform agriculture in Africa

On Monday, the second webinar on Digitalization to transform agriculture in Africa will be hosted by The African Development Bank in collaboration with the FAO Investment Support.

The event will be focused on digitalization of food & agriculture systems using advisory services and big data. It will also look at how digitalization can provide quick responses to the coronavirus crisis & accelerate the longer-term transformation of Africa’s agric sector.

AI Chatbots in the COVID-19 Response

Digital health experts and stakeholders across sectors will come together to discuss the use of chatbots as a public health tool in the COVID19 response. The event is organised by Data Science & A.I. Summits for Health (DASH) and hopes to present opportunities and challenges of deploying chatbots.

Some of the most critical questions that will be answered include issues surrounding the use of chatbots as a public health tool. It will also look at why chatbots can play a critical role in COVID-19 response, especially in low resource settings as well as exploring the shortcomings of using these tools.

The event will be moderated by Eric Perakslis, Rubenstein Fellow at Duke University. Keynote speakers include Hila Azadzoy, Managing Director of Global Health Initiative, Miriam Obibi, Programme Specialist U-Report 24/7, UNICEF, Northeast Nigeria among others.
