Happy Children’s Day to every kid out there.
As the world celebrates children today, we thought it would be nice to add a little extra. In addition to the gifts the kids may have received, here are some thoughtful things that will help nurture, and celebrate your children today and after.
STEMcafe
Between school periods, STEMcafe helps children between the ages of 5 and 18 have a creative and fun time while learning the basics of robotics, motorized machines, electronic circuits and control systems, Arduino and Python programming among others.
Kids will make new friends at the camp and get more curious, creative, and skilled. Your kids may or may not pursue a career in STEM, but getting creative and building things with peers at a young age will help their subsequent learning process.
Children’s Trust Fund
If your child does not have a savings account, children’s day is the perfect day to have one opened for him or her. There are a number of options with different banks, and depending on your preference you can pick one that best suits your plan for your children.
Some options are GTbank Smart Kids Savers, Access Early Savers account, Zenith children account (ZECA), and Ecobank’s Junior Saver’s account. Besides funding the account on their behalf, you can help the kids develop a savings culture.
GTbank Play Center
Located in Ikoyi, the digital centre offers children between ages 5 and 10 a place to have fun, learn, and interact. Entry to the play centre is free as long as your kids have a GTBank Smart Kids Save (SKS) accounts. The Centre is open from 10am to 3pm between Mondays to Fridays, and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.
To take your kids to the centre, you have to register on the website at least 48 hours prior to the day, and you can take up to 4 kids at a time. The exposure to tech equipment and the ability to work their way around it in a monitored environment is a gift you can give through the play centre.
Bootcamps
Encouraging older children with an interest in STEM to be a part of bootcamps is a present that will be a part of their educational journey long after the children’s day and the Bootcamp are over.
Some popular bootcamps that teach coding skills and other STEM-related skills are WAAW foundation and Brainiacs STEM for Summer. Most bootcamps have a fee attached and are all worth the price.
Celebrating children is a daily activity. However, marking it on a single day with the rest of the world can be more memorable with a gift they can enjoy and derive value from. We hope you find a gift your child will appreciate from the ones listed above. Happy children’s day!
