Nigerian e-learning platform, ULesson, has announced a new funding raised from Founder Collective. The funding is a result of Founder Collective’s participation in ULesson’s fund raising round in 2019.
This latest undisclosed amount raised from the marquee seed-stage venture capital fund will be used to further the expansion of ULesson’s online learning platform. It will also be used to continue to make available high-quality, affordable and accessible education for African learners.
The online learning platform, which was founded by Sim Shagaya, recently announced a milestone of 40,000 app downloads by users in 4 weeks after it was launched into the market.
The milestone showed that the platform’s service is much needed by people. This is magnified by the lockdown situation because people cannot go to physical educational centers and are looking for suitable virtual alternatives.

Building a learning platform like uLesson with a library that is rich in content and scope portends huge benefits for the education system in terms of quality and relevance of content, cost-efficiency, and ease of learning.

Before being launched into the market, the online platform was in beta phase where it was tested to make sure that it fits the needs of its target market as a portable classroom for every student.
3 months before the online learning platform was eventually launched to the market, it raised $3.1 million from TlCom Capital to aid its expansion across West Africa.
4 weeks after the launch, Sim Shagaya announced that ULesson had expanded to North America, Africa, and Europe and was now available to learners in those regions.
As one of the goals of this latest announced funding, the learning platform will be pushing to expand its content library for users and make sure that quality education is available and affordable.

As it goes forward, what to expect from ULesson in the coming months include a Windows product as well as a Junior secondary school library covering Basic Technology, Basic Science, Business Studies and Mathematics.
