In July, MTN announced that it was partnering with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) through its mPulse to organise a spelling bee.

This partnership was targeted at Lagos Secondary School Students between the ages of 9 and 15.

The highlight of the spelling bee was that the overall winner will be given the privilege of replacing MTN Nigeria CEO, Mazen Mrou for a day. There were also gifts and prizes to be given to the students who emerged runner-ups.

MTN manages its part in the competition through its arm, mPulse, which is aimed at helping students become better versions of themselves. The maiden edition of the spelling bee started in July this year with a total of 70 private schools from Lagos participating.
