Here was how 14-Year Old Adeola Ademuwa Ifeoluwa, Emerged MTN’s First Kid CEO

In July, MTN announced that it was partnering with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) through its mPulse to organise a spelling bee.

This partnership was targeted at Lagos Secondary School Students between the ages of 9 and 15.

The highlight of the spelling bee was that the overall winner will be given the privilege of replacing MTN Nigeria CEO, Mazen Mrou for a day. There were also gifts and prizes to be given to the students who emerged runner-ups.

MTN manages its part in the competition through its arm, mPulse, which is aimed at helping students become better versions of themselves. The maiden edition of the spelling bee started in July this year with a total of 70 private schools from Lagos participating.

The schools whose students took part in the spelling bee include Top Grade Secondary School, Rolex Group of Schools, Caleb International School, Honeyland Schools and Chrisfield College.

The competition which began in July had over 1000 students from the 70 schools competed in the spelling bee with more than 969 students eliminated at various rounds of the competition.

At the grand finale which took place on November 19 in Holy Child College, Ikoyi, 31 students competed for the 1st position. At the end of the spelling bee, Adeola Ademuwa Ifeoluwa emerged the overall winner and first kid CEO of MTN Nigeria.

The other winners include 1st runner up Joseph Temiloluwa Grace from Wellspring College; 2nd runner up, Ibrahim Olutoki representing Monidams Private School, 3rd runner up Chukwufumnanya Okonweze who’s from Cayley College, and the 4th runner up from Longford International School, Tunde Lawal Toluwalase.

Ifeoluwa shared his thoughts on his victory. According to him, “I was feeling a little bit tensed but I knew I would win. I had to memorise a lot of words and prepared very hard”.
