Meet Efosa Aiyevbomwan, Uber’s New Communication Head for West Africa

The popular ride-hailing company, Uber has appointed Efosa Aiyevbomwan as the new Head of Communication for its West African operations, a position previously held by Francesca Uriri.

As the new communication head, Aiyevbomwan is expected to oversee all communication and media engagement of the company and to further promote the Uber brand across the West African region.

Speaking on the appointment, Lindsey Elkin, Uber’s communication head for Sub Saharan Africa expressed that Aiyevbomwan energy and perspective will affect the company in the most positive way.

“Efosa joining our team will only bring in new energy and perspective that will change the dynamic in the most positive of ways. His fresh outlook, industry expertise and communication skills will help build a stronger brand presence across the regions in West Africa.”

Aiyevbomwan described his appointment as an opportunity to explore a new chapter and look forward to telling Uber story across West Africa.

Aiyevbomwan graduated from the University of Lagos with a B.A English and has an M.Sc. in Media and Communication from Pan Atlantic University. He is also a licenced member of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN).

Aiyevbomwan began his career as a Public Relations Officer at Hues and Horizons Events Management in 2008, where he coordinated internal and external communication strategies for the firm and facilitated the administration of client accounts.

He then joined Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd as a Post Graduate Intern in the Public Affairs and Communications Department and followed by Sesema Public Relations where he served as Public Relations Consultant/Senior Account Executive and later Account Manager.

In 2014, he joined MultiChoice’s M-Net West Africa, where he later rose to the position of Public Relations Manager for DSTV Nigeria.

Prior his appointment at Uber, Aiyevbomwan was the PR and Communications Manager at Universal Music Group where he led the Public Relations and Communications drive for Universal Music Group, UMG, in Nigeria and other Anglophone West African countries.

Aiyevbomwan joins Uber with over a decade of global experience across communication and brand marketing and proven history of building a resilient brand both locally and internationally.
