Hello Tractor, a Nigeria-based digital platform which enables farmers to request affordable tractor services, has won $15,000 and a three-month acceleration program in Bosch Africa’s Smart Mobility competition.

Hello Tractor won the prize money of $15,000

The competition which launched in August evaluated applications from 222 teams across 27 African countries.

Hello Tractor along with Kenya’s BuuPass emerged winner in a final competition that hosted 11 finalists from seven countries on November 5 in Johannesburg.

Some of the startups that also pitched at the event include Mobility, Moja Ride, Motolix, Naviafleet and ParkCrowdy.

Speaking earlier, Yves Nono, Bosch Mobility Solutions vice president for sales in Africa, pointed out that the continent currently faces significant issues around mobility.

He added that with the continent’s growing population, the issues of mobility will only be exacerbated.

Founded in 2014 by Jehiel Oliver, Hello Tractor offers technology for smarter, better maintained, and more profitable tractors to farmers. The startup’s digital platform connects tractor owners and smallholding farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Also, the startup helps farmers who lack resources get convenient and affordable tractor services while creating additional income and enhanced security for tractor owners by turning tractor’s into smart tractors through remote asset tracking and virtual monitoring.

The potential of Hello Tractor’s innovative digital platform is getting it recognition. Recently CTA, a group fighting against poverty in Africa partnered with the startup to reach a large number of users that will modernise smallholder agriculture.

With the new influx of fund and the added support from partnerships, Hello Tractor is on track to expand its reach to more smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa.
