Opera Launches OLeads, an Online Platform that Helps Nigerian SMEs Advertise and Create Their Own Mobile Websites

Opera Limited, a popular browser developer, has announced the launch of OLeads, an online lead generation platform that helps Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) advertise and create mobile websites.

OLeads is the latest addition to Opera’s online enterprise in Nigeria after the launch of OPay and ORide. OLeads offers unique tools that maximise SMEs’ online presence and visibility to help increase sales and awareness about their business.

Speaking on the launch of OLeads, Per Wetterdal, VP of global business development at Opera explained that Nigeria was undergoing rapid digitisation with an online population of more than 110 million.

 “Nigeria is undergoing a rapid digitalisation with already more than 110 million people onboarded to the internet. And it’s estimated to grow to 188 million within the next four years.”

SMEs are an essential part of the Nigerian economy. Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) reports that there are over 40 million SMEs in the country.

For small businesses, advertisement is essential for growth. However, in Nigeria, the cost of advertisement is too expensive for many SMEs. This means most of their operations happen offline.

The current rapid digital transformation across the country provides means for Nigerians to scale their business since more than half of Nigeria’s population is already connected to the internet.

This gives them an edge over similar one-page business website creators like Disha which has just over 1,000 signups on its platform, with 982 sites created.
