Opera Launches OLeads, an Online Platform that Helps Nigerian SMEs Advertise and Create Their Own Mobile Websites
Opera Limited, a popular browser developer, has announced the launch of OLeads, an online lead generation platform that helps Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) advertise and create mobile websites.
OLeads is the latest addition to Opera’s online enterprise in Nigeria after the launch of OPay and ORide. OLeads offers unique tools that maximise SMEs’ online presence and visibility to help increase sales and awareness about their business.
Speaking on the launch of OLeads, Per Wetterdal, VP of global business development at Opera explained that Nigeria was undergoing rapid digitisation with an online population of more than 110 million.
“Nigeria is undergoing a rapid digitalisation with already more than 110 million people onboarded to the internet. And it’s estimated to grow to 188 million within the next four years.”Per Wetterdal, VP of Global Business Development at Opera
He added that OLeads will provide millions of Nigeria businesses opportunity to use digital transformation to reach Opera’s massive customer base.
Digital transformation of SMEs in Nigeria
SMEs are an essential part of the Nigerian economy. Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) reports that there are over 40 million SMEs in the country.
For small businesses, advertisement is essential for growth. However, in Nigeria, the cost of advertisement is too expensive for many SMEs. This means most of their operations happen offline.
The current rapid digital transformation across the country provides means for Nigerians to scale their business since more than half of Nigeria’s population is already connected to the internet.
OLeads provides the opportunity for local businesses to come online and connect with the fast-growing internet population by providing an affordable platform.
How OLeads works?
Once an SME is registered on the OLeads website, they can easily create their first mobile website and landing page for their marketing campaigns. The platform provides a wide variety of website templates that they can personalise according to the needs and goals of any business.
The platform does not require any programming or design skills, as its user-friendly interface allows any SME or business owner create a mobile website from scratch in less than five minutes by dragging and dropping text, images and call-to-action modules.
OLeads also allow business owners to manage the data generated from their website as well as provides direct access to Opera’s huge user base in Nigeria by integrating seamlessly into the related advertising platform, like Opera Ads.
Riding on Opera’s strong position in the Nigerian market, OLeads has quickly reached the milestone of over 3000 businesses on its platform since its soft launch in September 2019. This gives them an edge over similar one-page business website creators like Disha which has just over 1,000 signups on its platform, with 982 sites created.
Wetterdal noted that since the launch the platform has received a high number of positive feedback.
“We have received very positive feedback from the SMEs we have on-boarded during the soft launch of the platform, and we are excited to now offer this service to millions of businesses in the country.”Per Wetterdal, VP of Global Business Development at Opera
With the launch of OLeads, Opera is taking steps to build an advertising ecosystem in Nigeria. An affordable alternative that maximises the visibility of a business to millions of possible customers online could not have come at a better time.
