StartupbootCamp (SBC) Afritech is back for its third edition and has selected 11 African tech startups for its 3rd cohort, with 2 Nigerian brands – Curacel Systems and HouseAfrica participating.
This cohort of startups were selected from a shortlist of 22 initially selected across Africa. After pitching their ideas and innovations before a group of tech industry experts, 11 successful tech startups were selected to participate in the accelerator.
Nigeria-based shortlistee, Curacel Systems, is a platform that provides an intelligent fraud detection solution and fast-tracking technology for African health insurers and providers. HouseAfrica aims to help Africans own shares in multiple properties, and make returns from house sales profit, sales appreciation and rental profits.
The other 9 startups consist of three from South Africa (Convergenc3 Databotics, Snapslip Holdings, Rentoza), while Kenya (Asilimia), Uganda (Cinnamon Clubs), the UK (Survey54), Morocco (Weego), Senegal (Yobante Express) and Zimbabwe (YouFarm!) all have one representative each.
Following this selection, the lucky platforms will be invited to join the StartupBootCamp Accelerator programme which begins next month. The bootcamp will run for 3 months and help these startups scale quickly and get their solutions market-ready.
During this period, startups will have access to the bootcamp’s network of mentors from various industries – fintech, insurtech and regtech.
Startups will also get free office space and an opportunity to seal pilots and proof-of-concepts with the corporate sponsors of the programme.
The 3 months bootcamp will culminate in a demo day and each startup will also receive €15,000 in funding. Startups will also have access to additional funding from a network of industry partners, investors, and venture capital firms.
