Here are some of the Most Expensive Apps on the PlayStore, but what Exactly Do they Do?

Not all apps are free, everybody knows this. But sometimes, some expensive apps are just way too outrageous. Some even offer next to nothing. 

American fitness startup, Future, just launched its personal training app. The personalized app helps users hit the workout schedules and fitness goals they want by assigning them to an actual human trainer. The trainers follow up on users, track their activity and ensure they are actually following through with the plan.

The company is tapping into people’s comfort getting support and expert knowledge from domain experts. In fact many startups have emerged recently on this model, promising to connect users with experts.

But here’s the catch, the Future app costs $150 to buy. That $150! In Naira terms that is N54,000 spent on just a mobile app! I mean we’ve seen N2,000, N1,500 for apps, but N54,000?

Although the company has a 30-day money back policy for users, it still sounds crazy that an app should cost that much.

So we decided to poke around to see how expensive apps could be. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most expensive apps we could find.

I’m Rich (N80,000): I’m Rich, a ridiculously expensive app is first on the list. Despite its cost, the app doesn’t do anything at all. The app plays into the elitist mindset and tries to get rich people to buy the app just to show off that they are rich.

“If you are really rich then buy this app and prove that you are really rich and you can buy anything expensive,” they wrote on Play Store.

FiLMiC Pro (N5,400): FiLMiC Pro is another very expensive app on the app store. The app touts itself as a professional HD camera and costs an incredible N5,400 to buy. Unfortunately, it has a 3.2 average review on play store, that’s hugely negative for a paid app.

Rome: Total War (N4,630): Now on a whole, games cost more than apps, but Rome: Total War goes one up. At N4,630, this is one of the most expensive games out there. But people seem to like it. It has over 10,000+ installs and an average rating of 4.4 from over 2,318 ratings. Maybe we could assume its worth the money. 

Final Fantasy VI (N6,010): For different reasons, people really like fantasy games, but Final Fantasy exerts a huge amount to play. The app costs N6,010 and is an Editor’s Choice app. Despite its cost the app has been downloaded over 100,000 times and has an average rating of 4.4 from a pool of 24,852 reviews.

Photo Lab PRO Picture Editor (N3,630): this hugely popular app is one of the most expensive on the Google Play Store. With an average rating of 4.7 from over 72,000 reviews, this app has been installed over 500,000 times. With its loads of features, the app may be worth the money.

PhotoPills (N3,500): This is another photography app commanding a huge buck on the app store. The app is a cool assistant that helps people capture awesome moments in the best way possible. It costs N3,500 though. But the reviews are impressive and very tempting.
