Welcome to Social Media Roundup. As usual, we would be sharing with you some of the most interesting trends that got social media agog. Fasten your seat belts guys.

Bashir Ahmad’s claim that Bill Gates called Buhari over election victory tears Twitter apart

After Atiku Abubakar named experts from Microsoft, IBM and Oracle as witnesses for his petition against the presidential election result, the Personal Assistant to Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmed, took to Twitter to claim that Microsoft boss, Bill Gates already called Buhari to congratulate him.

His tweets have since divided the opinions of Nigerians on twitter with some claiming the information is not true while others believe that it is true and could only mean Buhari is doing a good job.

Some considered the development as proof of economic growth

While some believed it was the presidency’s tactic to counter Atiku’s witness presentation.

Whether there was a call or not would likely not have much bearing to court proceedings anyway.

Ajax stunned Juventus to reach Champions League semi final
CCT Sacks Onnoghen, Ajax Stun Juve

It was a night of huge upset in the UEFA Champions leagues when Ajax knocked out almighty Juventus with Ronaldo leading the attack. Social media tamed it as Youngest beating old.

It wasn’t long before Messi/Ronaldo comparison came into it. Understandably so since Messi scored twice to help Barcelona dispatch Manchester United rather easily.

Some were of the opinion that Ronaldo was doing all the work and that inadvertently led to Juventus’ loss.

Ajax will meet Tottenham in their first Champions League semi-final in 22 years. But after eliminating Real Madrid and now Juventus, not many will consider them underdogs again.

Mixed reactions as CCT sacks Onnoghen

During the week, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) convicted Justice Walter Onnoghen on charges of breach Code of Conduct for Public Officers. The tribunal then ordered his removal from office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

His case became the most trending during the week

Some Nigerians wished he resigned honorably.

Walter Onnoghen was also banned from holding any public office for a period of 10 years.
