WEEKLY ROUNDUP: How Goodluck Jonathan’s Book “My Transition Hour” Set Social Media on Fire

WEEKLY ROUNDUP: How Goodluck Jonathan’s Book “My Transition Hour” Set Social Media on Fire

Former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan did not only celebrate his 61st birthday during the week, he also launched his autobiography, My Transition Hours. In the book, Jonathan wrote about how he lost the election to his political opponent Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

    He is our Club legend
He is the Ballon D'or Winner 2010-2015
He is the MVP of Democracy
He gave the most assists for credible Elections in 2015
He is the Highest Goal scorer for Rule of Law
    He is the G.O.A.T

    He is @GEJonathan

    — Ebube D Statesman (@akaebube) November 20, 2018

Dignitaries like Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar all  attended the public presentation of the book.

    — Premium Times (@PremiumTimesng) November 20, 2018

The book launch was the most talked about issue over the week, helped by the fact that the launch fell on a public holiday. Nigerians therefore trooped to social media to celebrate and appreciate him for his statemanship after conceding defeat after the 2015 general elections. Congratulations once again and happy birthday sir.

Bitcoin Crashes, Other Cryptocurrencies Suffer Worst Hit in 2018

In other news, Bitcoin crashed to its lowest point of 2018 during the week as price volatility returns to the cryptocurrency market.

Bitcoin is down over 75% from its all-time high.

It is still the best performing asset class in the last 5 years.

It has dwarfed stocks, bonds, currencies and commodities since inception too.

Ignore the noise, trust the code.

    — Pomp 🌪 (@APompliano) November 21, 2018

There was no clear reason why cryptocurrency prices dipped so low. But Bitcoin Cash recently split into two currencies following a “hard fork” of its architecture. This may have prompted a panic and, perhaps, pushed speculators into selling their assets.

    — Daniel📈 (@TraderDaniel4k) November 21, 2018

But some investors are confident the Cryptocurrency market will rise again. Some even expect bull runs next year. So lets trade carefully while we keep our fingers crossed.

Is Nigerian Black Friday a Scam?

We are still in the month of November and black Friday deals are still on. but it seems Black Friday is gradually loosing its meaning. Do you think it is still such an important part of Nigerian shopping experience? Do people still look forward to Black Friday in Nigeria?

A lot of Nigerians say they have not seen any sensible black Friday deals online.

Anyone seen any sensible #BlackFriday deals in Nigeria??

    — Rim_me (@Rimme15) November 22, 2018

Could it be That they Just Don’t Trust eCommerce Platforms?

Nigerians believe that the domestic version of Black Friday is a scam. Several persons have reported that eCommerce companies use some ploys to cheat users when sales happen.

Please share your thoughts on Nigerian Black Friday in the comment section.
