NIPOST Launches “Easy Life Account”, Agency Banking Service for the Unbanked

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has launched the pilot phase of its Agency Banking service to aid financial inclusion and bank the unbanked across its vast network of outlets in Nigeria in collaboration with Wema Bank today.

The solution named Easy life was launched at the Post Office in the ancient town of Oyo in Oyo state. At the event, the NIPOST team went all-out to intimate the populace about the new product and how it will be of benefit to them. Interestingly, the event coincided with the 2018 global World Post Day celebration.

Speaking about the new banking solution, Post-Master General (PMG) of NIPOST, Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi, stated that the “Easy Life Account” was created in-line with NIPOST’s bid to leverage new-age technology in order to enable it to serve Nigerians more efficiently and become an institution that will be integral to everyday life of Nigerians through valuable services.

According to him, “These past years, we have made efforts to create a digital economy mindset in the postal service and the Nigeria Postal Service of today will transform how we do business in the areas of banking, logistics, e-commerce and addressing. We are launching this product in Oyo today because our focus is on the unbanked, especially in the rural areas.”

This he said ‘will ensure financial inclusiveness for all underbanked and unbanked, most especially those in the rural areas” which is a very good one considering that financial exclusion among the adult population in Nigeria is as high as 40%.
