Entries for 2019 Global Mobile Awards Now Open With New Categories for Startups

Entries are now open for the 2019 Global Mobile Awards. And this time around, the awards introduces new categories that pay more attention to startup innovations.

The Global Mobile Awards is by the Groupe Spéciale Mobile Association (GSMA), the global trade body representing mobile network operators. And the awards is organised to recognise greatest achievements and innovations across the mobile industry.

“The 2019 GLOMO Awards will put a spotlight on the vast array of technological innovations that are helping to connect everyone and everything to a better future”, GSMA said in a press release.

The awards offer companies across the mobile tech world an opportunity to showcase their latest and most innovative products. These could be of many different types and ranges from mobile apps, devices, services, to even sustainable development initiatives across the world.

Historically, Global Mobile Awards honours innovations across seven major categories. These include:

Consumer: for businesses deepening the business-to-consumer relationship.

Fourth Industrial Revolution: recognising businesses pushing digital innovations.

Global Mobile Awards Puts Spotlight on Startups

Thanks to new trends and development in the tech world, the 2019 edition includes three new categories: 4YFN, 5G Awards, and Mobile Tech Awards.

The 4YFN (4 Years From Now) category, however, represents the most interesting new category. Unlike other categories, 4YFN is focused exclusively on startups. And according to GSMA, 4YFN works in two ways. First, it is a platform for startups and other businesses to launch new ventures and innovations. And second, it recognises tech hubs helping to accelerate innovations in the tech ecosystem.

The Mobile Tech Awards in another interesting new category. It also pays a huge attention to startups. This category has subcategories, and two of these give preferential treatment to innovations by startups. The Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough and Best Network Software Breakthrough awards recognise innovations by companies with revenues less than $10 million.

There are also similar awards with the same name for companies with revenue north of $10 million. This will allow more startups to showcase their innovations at a gathering of elite tech companies.
