After a 4-week local accelerator programme, Nigerian Startups–Arone, Gerocare, and Afagreen have emerged winners ahead of 9 others startups and would be making an all expense paid trip to participate in the Slush Global Impact Accelerator in Helsinki, Finland in November.

The event selected startups from over 160 applications received and they participated in a 4 week Bootamp from August 6-31 at Heartland Hub, which it culminated in a pitch day event which involved all the startups: Databanter (Ondo), a digital food donation initiative; Phendok Bioenergy (Jos), a biofuel company; Aircell (Imo), an agri-tech supply solution; Recyclepro Innovations (Anambra), a web-based waste collection platform;and Rehoboth Therapeutics, a HealthTech startup providing services using natural supplements.
The selected startups also include Crispvision Ventures Ltd (Akwa Ibom), a blindness prevention service; Homefort (Lagos), an energy startup that aims at helping Nigerians switch from switch using dirty fuels to cooking gas; Vida ICT Solutions (Imo), an e-health company; and Chronic Doctors (Abia), a digital health solution.

Others include the winners: Arone (Enugu), a drone delivery service; Afagreen, a startup which recycles paper into quality products like tables, chairs; and Gerocare (Abuja), a subscription-based healthcare service for the elderly who were chosen by the judges (Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata of CFAtech; Teri Joseph, SDG expert; and Nnamdi Anika, MD of Genesys Hub) after a rigorous pitching session.
With this qualification, the startups would be participating in the main Slush event and Bootcamp which is targeted at impact-driven entrepreneurs from emerging markets like Nigeria to help them accelerate their businesses, attract additional financing and build long-lasting networks. The event will hold from November 27th – December 6th, 2018.
