British Prime Minister, Theresa May Visits Nigeria

British Prime Minister, Theresa May has said she was in Nigeria to bring jobs and enhance trading links between Nigeria and Britain. Sounds interesting, right?

She also met with notable entrepreneurs like Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Femi Otedola Mr. Tony Elumelu, among others.

She disclosed that she had an excellent time in Nigeria and hopes to see increased trade and investment between Nigeria and the UK.

Paga Launches Very Easy-to-Use Money Transfer App

Leading Nigerian mobile money company, Paga, has announced the launch of its new Money Transfer platform in Nigeria. The new solution was unveiled during the week by the Company’s CEO,  Tayo Oviosu.

The Paga Money Transfer app has been designed with the aim to “simplify the process of sending money and ensure that money always gets to the recipient — no questions asked — always.” To achieve this end, the app has been designed to be devoid of a cluster of functions and perform just 2 basic functions “send and request money”.

Anambra State Governor Gives Scholarship/One Million Naira Cash To The 5 Golden Girls From Regina Pacis School

Recall the group of five girls who developed what they called FD-Detector (fake drug detector), an astonishing app to help fight the menace of fake drugs? Well, they are students of Regina Pacis (Queen of Peace) Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State.

They had an impressive run to the finals, having emerged victorious in Africa. To win the global trophy, they competed with students from Spain, USA, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and China. The girls were honoured by the state government during the week with scholarships and a cash prize of one million naira each by the state Governor, Willie Obiano.

Social Media Reacts as Davido Begins NYSC in Lagos

During the week, Nigerian pop star, David Adeleke, also known as Davido,  began the one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos. This got many Nigerians talking as to why he has to serve as the superstar that he is.

He literally electrified the Lagos state NYSC camp.

The singer who graduated from Babcock University in 2015, announced his participation in the scheme on his Instagram page where he posted a picture of himself clothed in the NYSC uniform.

NIPOST Goes Digital, Launches Address Verification and Digital Addressing Systems

To end the week on a more amazing note, Nipost Nigeria held its stakeholders’ conference and launched two new addressing tools –Digital Addressing System and Address Verification System. The event, which had the theme “Addressing Critical Challenges in Courier and E-Commerce Industry” held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, GRA-Ikeja, Lagos.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the Post Master General (PMG) of NIPOST himself, Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi. He noted that the event is another milestone towards bridging the addressing gap in Nigeria.

There was also a session for unveiling the addressing tools: Address Verification System (AVS), system where addresses are verified by going to the location to confirm; and Digital Addressing System (DAS), a system of over 330 billion, 3 by 3 square addresses, providing every house in Nigeria with a unique digital address.
