A new mobile cab-hailing app, CarXie is set to launch in Lagos soon. According to the owners, Dukan George Limited, there would also be a seminar on defensive driving which is designed to enhance driving skills of CarXie drivers and of other drivers.

The driver-rider app which was developed alongside foreign partners is expected to boost the nation’s cab-hailing rides by providing cabs that will guarantee comfort, safety, affordability and most especially, the security of both the driver and commuters.
Speaking on the app’s launch Carxie’s Operations Director, Chinedu Amadi said:
CarXie, is an innovative mobile app designed to satiate your intra/intercity trips at the shortest possible notice by providing cabs that guarantee your comfort and security. It’s safe and affordable. CarXie was conceived to ensure that Nigeria is a major and active player in today’s technology-driven transportation systems that are strategic to a smooth running economy.

According to him, the app comes with features that would make car theft and kidnapping impossible. The features include the usage of the commuter’s Bank Verification Number (BVN) as a means of identification. Other safety features include the automatic tracking of the vehicle and voice chats during cab rides.
“The driver and vehicle verification exercises are so thorough that they yield only courteous and comfortable service. There are three tiers of supervision embedded in that CarXie offer to ensure quality and trust,” Chinedu said.
Although as good as these safety measures are, the question that comes to mind is whether these data collected are safe and secure, most especially that of the Bank Verification Number (BVN).

The cab-hailing app which is to be launched on the 27th July 2018 is also said to have the potential of creating more than 36,000 jobs for drivers across the country. This is another entry into the buoyant Nigerian e-hailing service ecosystem as there has been a number of platforms springing up (both local and foreign) in this space.
That said, Carxie is set to compete in a saturated market and would be receiving competition from the big guys such as Uber, Taxify, Oga Taxi, SmartCab and some others. However, the owners are promising a whole new experience as a difference.
