Facebook, in partnership with Afrinolly (a creative hub and entertainment app), has announced the start of its new ‘Facebook for Creators’ training programme, which is aimed at equipping thousands of young creative entrepreneurs across Nigeria with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital world.

Focused on young content creators, the specially curated training is aimed at journalism students and bloggers, artists, photographers, actors, filmmakers, comedians and social media influencers, (with about 3000 creators and 2000 journalism students to be trained) to help them leverage digital tools to increase awareness around their works, engage and grow audiences online, establish their brand and make money while at it.
The training programme also features a special ‘Facebook Journalism Project’ training for journalism students to help them explore how to leverage Facebook products to showcase their works as well as maximize them for content gathering. The ‘Facebook for Creators’ training programme is a day’s event and would be taking place in 5 cities across Nigeria –Lagos, Jos, Kaduna, Abuja, and Kano, for free.

Speaking at the program’s launch, Sherry Dzinoreva, Policy Programs Manager, EMEA at Facebook said:

With a booming media and creative entrepreneur industry in Nigeria, this initiative would be of huge value to content creators as they get a product that is targeted at helping them expand and create awareness for their brands. This is not only a good for the Nigerian creative industry but also for the tech ecosystem as well.
