Nigeria’s Digital startup Hubs.ng and Ghana’s Agritech FarmCap, were the winners of the 2018 Digital Africa Start-pitch which was conducted at the just concluded Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition in Abuja, Nigeria on 5th -7th June 2018.

The third day of the event kicked off with a digital face-off that featured tech start-ups from Nigeria and across Africa and curated by Network Of Incubators & Innovators In Nigeria (NINE) to pitch their ideas. These startups include Littafi (a blockchain startup), Ubytz (an E-commerce startup) and Foodgatsby (an E-Commerce startup). After each startup took round in participation, Hubs.ng and FarmCap emerged winners of the face-off with the prize of a one-year mentorship from Digital Africa Consult.

Hubs.ng (also known as Digital Nigeria) is Nigeria’s first digital ecosystem startup tailored to suit the daily physical ecology of Nigerians. It provided over 70% solution to the problem discussed by the panelists at the conference with a focus is on creating a digital bio-network with services every Nigerian uses daily. Hubs.ng is building products and services—ecommerce and technology solutions designed for Nigerians with the goal of digitalizing every service in Nigeria’s physical ecosystem.
FarmCap, on the other hand, is an AgricTech startup in Ghana providing farmers with funds, lands, inputs and IoT devices to better manage productivity in the agricultural sector. FarmCap also provides a market to farmers to easily connect with buyers at competitive market rates while receiving their return on investment either as cash or farm produce.

The conference, which was organized by Digital Africa, is focused on the milestones achievements in technology of ancient Africa. It also presents the participants the opportunity to network and access to strategic partners, investors and potential buyers for their products. The theme for this year’s edition was “Africa’s Tech Renaissance” and the conference had a lot of government officials and top tech entrepreneurs present.
