3D Africa’s HackforGood is an innovation accelerator for students, entrepreneurs, and creatives where they are expected to develop usable prototypes that can solve real-world problems in their communities and be rewarded for it.

This is an opportunity for youths to connect other businesses and academic institutions to prototype products that would accelerate growth, product innovation, and enhance job creation while delivering meaningful partnerships and global impact at the same time.
This year’s theme is “Connect, Collaborate, Create for Good” and according to the organizers (Youth for Technology Foundation), the goal of the 2018 hackathon is for the participants to:
Create mockups or prototypes of products, services and ideas that are able to generate social and economic value for the community by hacking common objects and using open data, public APIs, frameworks for fast prototyping and software development, micro-controllers, sensors, and 3D Printers.

#HackforGood2018 is expected to bring together 50 incredibly talented women and men from universities and communities across Nigeria to innovate for good. Participants will have access to digital manufacturing tools and training (latest 3D printing hardware, software, Internet of Things development platforms, tools and industry experts) and would work in teams, to build creative technology products/solutions around healthcare, transportation, security, and agriculture.
The academic partner for this year’s event is the University of Lagos. Close to the famous tech community of Yaba, the school was chosen for its enabling environment. The Hackathon would run from 2nd – 4th August 2018 and have youth innovators, technologists, and entrepreneurs collaborate for about 72 hours.
