OTRAC

An Abuja-based healthcare startup, OTRAC, has been chosen to take part in the Afric@Tech e-health startup challenge, which is aimed at identifying and rewarding startups revolutionizing practices in the African healthcare space.

OTRAC is an e-learning software on a web platform and mobile application that provides a learning platform for professional development in the public industry using technology. It helps healthcare personnel to easily choose what courses to take, learn at their own pace on their mobile devices irrespective of their locations, and earn a formal recognition for their achievements.

The startup which is aimed at bridging the learning gap and enhancing capacity development in the public health industry would be competing with the 9 other startups chosen at the challenge. The startups are Appenberg Digital Publishing (South Africa), Vula Mobile (South Africa), Bisa (Ghana), GiftedMom (Cameroon), Infomed Healthcare (Egypt), KEA Medicals (Benin), MedTrucks (Morocco), Sagitarix (Kenya), and Yapill (pan-African).

The Afric@Tech e-health Startup Challenge is run by Sanofi, a French multinational pharmaceutical company, in collaboration with Viva Technology, an international event dedicated to the development of startups, global digital transformation and innovation. The Challenge will provide concrete support to entrepreneurs concerned by healthcare stakes on the continent, by contributing to the development of the most innovative local initiatives all over Africa.

The ten startups chosen to take part in the Sanofi in Africa Lab at the Afric@Tech installment of the event will be expected to present their projects to a jury. Winning startups with the most intriguing projects would be offered the opportunity to benefit from financial support, coaching and mentoring from Sanofi, in preparation of an eventual collaboration with one of Sanofi’s departments in Africa.

The event is slated to hold in Paris, France from May 24-26, 2018.
