The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustafa has announced that the Federal Government will be opening a new website that will convey detailed and updated information and data about its achievements and progress in different sectors of the economy.

An open website aims to make government more open and accountable. So the opening of this government website will increase citizen participation in government, creates opportunities for economic development, and informs decision making in both the private and public sectors.

The website will be linked to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) so Nigerians will be able to see the achievements of the present government.

According to Boss Mustafa, while speaking at the opening of the 2018 Open Government Partnership week in Abuja:

Our story is best told by us. We should never expect third parties to see our corruption problems better than us. More than at any time in history, this government is waging an unprecedented war against corruption through: Asset recovery, prosecution of acts of corruption, instituting new culture and rebuilding anti-corruption institutions.

At the event, the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo delivered a keynote address titled: ‘The Impact of Open Government Partnership to Nigeria’s Anti-Corruption Efforts. He also publicly presented the previously launched OGP Nigeria National Action.

The event is slated to last for one week and the open website will be launched within the next two weeks. The government is also working on a mechanism that would help measure the country’s corruption index to reduce the reliance on indices from foreign organizations.
