    CWG Plc Appoints Phillip Obioha as its New Chairman, Board of Directors

    CWG Plc, Nigeria’s largest system integration company, has announced the appointment of the company’s former Chief Operating Officer, Phillip Obioha as the Chairman of its Board of Directors.

    According to a statement issued and signed by Mrs. Anthonia Ehanmo, the company’s Group Head, Brand and Marketing Communications, Engr. Phillip Obioha’s appointment comes after Mr. Abiodun Fawunmi stepped down. Fawunmi, however, remains on the board as a Non-Executive Director.

    In the statement, Obioha is described as a highly-experienced technology expert, who until his recent appointment, was a Non-Executive Director on the board and served as the Chairman of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCOM) of the Board.

    Engr. Phillip Obioha’s Professional Antecedents

    According to reports by ITPulse, Engr. Obioha has more than 28 years of cognitive experience in the Information Technology industry. From inception, he has held several key positions in the then Computer Warehouse Group and was one of the strategic steering members of the business.

    The former Communications Division of Computer Warehouse Group Plc became the foremost provider of Networks to corporate organizations under his watch. This was instrumental to the establishment of Online banking in the Nigerian Financial Industry.

    He was also the Chief Operating Officer of the Group for about 18 years’ and contributed to the planned growth of Computer Warehouse Company, into a group with a diversified interest in Communications, Software Engineering, and Hardware Infrastructure.

    He was responsible for the geographical diversification of the group with the establishment of Subsidiary Companies in Ghana, Uganda and Cameroon.

    He also saw to the institutionalizing of the company, implementing systems and processes up till the successful listing of the Computer Warehouse Group at the Nigerian Stock exchange. His portfolio under the umbrella of the group operations included the Group Finance, Projects, Human Resources, Quality & Metrics, Internal IT systems and Administration.

    His Education

    Engr. Obioha trained as an Electrical Engineer, with specialization in Digital Electronics at West Virginia University, USA. He also holds an MBA from the Lagos Business School / IESE.

    He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and the Institute of Information Management. He is also a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer (IEEE, USA), Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG, corporate) and the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS). He was conferred with the Titans of Tech award by Technology Africa in 2015.

    In Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), Nigeria’s monthly d In Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), Nigeria’s monthly data consumption of 80,000 TB(80 million GB) is only topped by South Africa, which expends up to 269,000 TB every month. Kenya and Ghana complete the four largest consumers, using 22,400 TB and 8,100 TB of monthly internet data respectively.

But, Ghana and Kenya switch places when monthly data usage is measured relative to the number of internet users. With 36.54 million internet users, South Africa still leads with 7.4gb per user. Nigeria’s 108.27 million internet subscribers see data spent per user at 0.73gb, followed by Ghana’s 0.55gb and Kenya’s 0.47gb.
