Konga CEO, Shola Adekoya Has Left the Company, Nick Imudia is New CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Konga, Shola Adekoya has relinquished his position in the company. This was evident in his tweet some hours ago:

As evident, Shola did not indicate fully who is taking over from him. He also did not indicate any specific reason for the departure. What is however evident is that Shola is no longer at the helm of affairs.

Techpoint, however, reports that the newly appointed CEO is Nick Imudia, the immediate past Regional DirectorTCL/Alcatel responsible for Nigeria and Central Africa Operations. Mr Imudia was the Managing Director of Nokia in West and Central Africa.

Recall that Konga was recently acquired by Zinox group, an important Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The deal was concluded after months of negotiations between Zinox and Konga’s major shareholders, Naspers and Kinnevik. It is unclear if the leadership swap was part of the acquisition deal.

The company also recently appointed Corporate guru, Olusiji Ayodele Ijogun, as Chairman of Konga. Nairametrics reports that Imudia will assume office on April 3rd, 2018 with a clear mandate to deliver Konga as number one e-Commerce company in Africa.

Shola Adekoya is a seasoned professional with over 17 years of business and management experience in finance, telecom, logistics retail and transportation across Europe and Africa.

Prior to joining Konga.com, Mr Adekoya was in charge of financial planning and budgeting at Etisalat Nigeria. prior experience includes working for Vodafone Group where he worked across 8 European countries in developing Internet and Data.

He joined Konga Online Shopping Limited in 2013, as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He later moved on to become the Chief Operating Officer at the company.

Shola Adekoya began leading Konga.com in an acting capacity after the founder, Sim Shagaya stepped down to become the chairman of the board in January 2016. The company was said to have searched for a replacement but Shola continued in the capacity thereafter.
