Swift Networks Launches Free Internet Service in Lagos With #RedCheetaApp

Red Cheetah is a free broadband WiFi service being piloted by Swift Network. This Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) gives you access to a world of free, fast, secure, and reliable internet service while on the go or at your favourite hangout spots. For your next gigabyte fix, this high quality broadband service is not only completely free of charge to the subscriber, but has no download limits.

Additionally, it requires no modem to be accessed in public spaces and can be accessed via any WiFi-enabled device like smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. Subscribers will also receive periodic messages from the corporate sponsors of the Red Cheetah service. The company plans to establish 10,000 WiFi hotspots across Lagos State with two million estimated daily users.

At the product launch yesterday, the MD/CEO of Red Cheetah, Mr. Charles Anudu said:

Red Cheetah is supported by some corporate sponsors to keep Nigerians connected to the fastest and highest quality broadband access that will enable them to continue to achieve more, wherever they are.Subscribers to this service will periodically be required to view advertisement messages from the various sponsors who have made this service free.

The service is actually easy to use. Users can register as many devices as possible and each device is entitled to a 1GB data cap daily.

Location and Accessibility

The Chief Operating Officer of Swift Network, Chukwuma Okoye says Red Cheetah hopes to reach its target of 10,000 locations in Lagos by the next 6 months. But for now, it is available in 500 locations that include public spots, BRT buses and metered taxis, cafes, bars, lounges and malls.

Lagos has been chosen as a primary test location to refine the product before branching out to other states in Nigeria and Africa.

Gaining access to this free browsing service is uncomplicated. Subscribers only have to download the Red Cheetah app on the Android Play Store and register. Windows and iOS versions of the app will be available in the next 3 months.
