New Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Deliver Cool Camera, Emoji, AI Features

Last Sunday, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on the eve of the highly anticipated Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Coming in four colours: Midnight Black, titanium grey, coral blue and the brand new lilac purple, the new flagship device is set to take on Apple’s iPhone X.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Specs

Unfortunately, the new lines of the Samsung Galaxy are not quite different from the previous models. The new S9 comes with a 5.8 inch Quad HD+ Curved Super Amoled infinity screen. In simpler terms, it has full screen and curved glass edges, exactly like the previous model. But the S9+ does come with a 6.2 inch screen.

In terms of memory, the S9 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. Fortunately, it does come with an SD card holder. However, the S9+ has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The device also includes louder sound and a much faster processor. But the most important talking point are the cameras, emoji customisation and the AI features.

Camera

The new Samsung S9 comes with much improved camera features. Primary camera is 12 MP and secondary camera is 8MP. But every smartphone user knows that the MP never tells the full story.

The cameras have a super speed dual pixel sensor, with dedicated processing power to make your photographs DLSR-quality. It also spots two camera lenses on its rear. These lenses provide different views and allow photo backgrounds to be digitally blurred.

The device also has a super slow-mo feature that can be used to create slow-motion videos.

Create your Own Emojis with AI

Samsung S9 comes with new features that turn selfies into emojis. It uses AI to analyse a 3D image and maps out 100 facial expressions to create a 3D model of the selfie.

Additionally, these emojis are fully customiseable. You can change the hair, accessories and even the clothes on them. Emojis generated on S9 can be sent to friends regardless of the sort of smartphone they use.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 also comes with another important AI feature: Bixby. Bixby is an AI assistant. It has now been integrated with the camera of the S9, allowing users to easily detect and recognise objects.
