Busted! Instagram Now Alerts You When People “Steal” Your Story

Busted! Instagram Now Alerts You When People “Steal” Your Story

A lot of social media users today have a striking resemblance with pirates. Yes! We search for free music, apps, movies, and we even “steal” our friend’s Stories on Instagram! Well, as from today, your piracy days are numbered; at least on Instagram.

Instagram has introduced an interesting feature: it will now notify users anytime another user takes a screenshot of their Stories.

You can check who has taken a screenshot of your story by checking who has seen it. If a user has taken a screenshot, an icon will be placed next to that user’s name.

    Instagram’s Screenshot Alert

You can check who has taken a screenshot of your Instagram story

Screenshot alert would only be sent once however. And the app would include a warning to users every time they want to take a screenshot.

People Are Outsmarting Instagram’s Screenshot Alert

This feature has only been in existence for two days, but already people are outsmarting it. Twitter users have shared multiple ways to escape being caught by Instagram when you take a screengrab.

Setting your phone in flight mode while taking screenshots is one way to avoid being caught by Instagram. Another tip was to download a story directly from Instagram’s website.

    Confirmed workarounds:

✅ telefoon in vliegtuigmodus zetten en screenshot maken
✅ Story op Instagram-website kijken en foto downloaden

Instagram May let You Share Other’s Post on Your story

Instagram is also reportedly testing a new feature that would allow users to share posts by other in their Stories. Only public accounts can use this feature; and so far it has only been tested with a small group of users.

However, TechCrunch reports that there’s no guarantee that the feature would be rolled out completely.

This feature and the screenshot alert, are two of Instagram’s latest features. Instagram has been introducing a set of new features since January. It has introduced text-based stories and online status. It has also been testing a new video call feature on its app.
